Steel rope

Steel rope, a critical component in many industrial and marine applications, is renowned for its strength, durability, and versatility. These ropes are composed of multiple steel wires twisted together to form a strong and flexible cable.

How much weight can a steel rope hold?

The weight-bearing capacity of a steel rope depends on several factors, including its construction, diameter, material quality, and design. Generally, the load capacity of steel ropes can vary significantly based on these specifications.

A basic method to estimate the maximum load capacity is the Diameter in millimeters squared (D^2) times 8. This is a commonly accepted formula in the industry for a standard 6 x 19 or 6 x 36 construction. For example, a rope of 10mm diameter would typically have a maximum load capacity of 102 × 8 = 800 kilograms.

However, it’s important to note that this calculation is a rough estimate. For specific applications, especially where safety is a key concern, it’s crucial to consult the exact specifications provided by the manufacturer or supplier. TEHO Ropes ensures that all our steel ropes come with detailed technical specifications and load charts to assist our customers in selecting the right rope for their needs.
